Oklahoma State Training Requirements

A nail technician in Oklahoma must be licensed as a manicurist in order to provide services to clients. These services may include giving manicures or pedicures, or applying artificial nails. Students must be at least 16 years old and have completed 8th grade in order to qualify for nail tech school in Oklahoma. Completion of nail tech school requires at least 600 hours of study. Students also have the option of completing 1200 hours as an apprentice to a licensed cosmetology instructor. After completing classes or the apprenticeship, students must pass the practical and written exams. Once these are done, the nail tech receives their manicurist license.
