Train at Nail Schools in Louisiana
Louisiana is an exciting and vibrant state full of history and culture. The nail technician schools in Louisiana are a place to begin in this glamorous beauty field. At a nail technician school in Louisiana you will learn all the skills necessary to become employed in a nail salon, full service salon or day spa. Nail techs give manicures, pedicures, and apply artificial nails to their clients. As a nail technician, your main focus is to keep the nails of your clients beautiful and healthy.
Louisiana Nail Training Requirements
People wishing to become licensed manicurists or nail technicians in Louisiana must be at least 16 and have completed the 10th grade before applying to nail tech school. The manicurist school program is 500 hours at an approved cosmetology school. Students then must pass 3 exams: the national written test, the Louisiana state written test, and the national practical exam. Licenses for nail techs are managed through the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology. A basic manicuring course will prepare students to complete manicures and pedicures, apply artificial nails and tips, and maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness. They may also learn about business development, retail products and sales techniques.
LA Nail Technician Salary & Job Opportunities
Many licensed nail technicians in Louisiana choose to work only part-time. Whether full or part time, nail tech jobs can be found in specialty nail salons, spas, salons and hotels. Some manicurists are self-employed, although home nail salons are not permitted. Manicurists are permitted to have mobile salons, but only to be able to perform manicure and pedicure services for the chronically ill or disabled clients. Nail techs in Louisiana earn an annual average salary of $20,950 before tips, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Salaries can grow with experience, more clients and working more hours.
