Cosmetology license requirements in New Hampshire include at least a 12th grade education or General Education Diploma, completion of an approved beauty school with at least 1,500 hours, and receiving a passing score on a licensing examination administered by the New Hampshire State Board of Cosmetology. Individuals from other states seeking licensure must have at least 1,500 hours of schooling or a notarized letter stating the completion of a minimum of 3,000 hours work experience.

As of May 2011, as stated by The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics(BLS), New Hampshire employs about 2,570 hairdressers, hairstylists, and cosmetologists. The average annual salary of these professions is $24,840 or $11.94 by the hour. The BLS also states that the overall job growth for these professionals is projected to rise about as fast as average over the 2010 to 2020 decade, at about 14 percent.
