New Hampshire: The Granite State

If you are interested in getting your New Hampshire cosmetology license or other beauty license, below is all the information you need to know about getting licensed in the Granite State!

Licenses Available:
Barber
Cosmetologist
Electrologist
Esthetician
Manicurist

Required Hours:
Barber: 1500 Barber School Hours (3000 Apprentice)
Cosmetologist: 1500 Beauty School Hours (3000 Apprentice)
Electrologist: 1100 Electrolysis Training Hours
Esthetician: 600 Esthetics School Hours
Manicurist: 300 Nail School Hours

License Requirements:

Must have 12th grade education or GED equivalent.
Must be judged of "good professional character."

Reciprocity:
New Hampshire grants reciprocity to applicants from states whose reqirements are equal to or greater than those of NH. Applicants must pass the State Law Exam. 

Renewal:
Cosmetology licenses must be renewed every two years in the licensee's birth month of even-numbered years. Barber, esthetician and nail tech licenses must be renewed every two years during the licensee's birth month of odd-numbered years. Only teachers are required to complete 28 continuing education hours for renewal at this time. To renew your license in New Hampshire, the following is due to the NH cosmetology board:
