Nebraska Beauty and Cosmetology Schools

Nebraska

Beauty schools in Nebraska help students gain the knowledge that is crucial to get a state license. Nebraska is one of the Great Plains states. Numerous wagon trails cross the state, and gold miners were some of the first to settle the area. Nebraska is known as the state Where the West Begins. Small towns are nestled throughout the Nebraskan plains and offer relaxed lifestyles. Students who want more excitement can live in Lincoln or Omaha. These two cities are the state’s largest and offer the amenities of urban living.

Stylists will learn the practical techniques required to work in a beauty salon or barber shop. Beauty schools in Nebraska allow students to focus on real-world experience. Most have salons on the campus, and students can cut and style hair as part of their class work. Students can also spend more time learning about manicures and pedicures. Some schools teach salon management for students who want to own their own beauty parlor.

Earning a cosmetologist's license is a great way to make a living. The first thing thsy aspirants must do is finish a program at one of the accredited beauty schools in Nebraska. The state requires cosmetologists to have 2,100 hours in the class, estheticians and electrologists need 600 hours and nail technicians need 300 hours. Most schools meet these requirements, and a lot of the hours are earned working in real beauty salons.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is the government agency that keeps track of salaries and growth trends in different industries. The BLS has good news for cosmetologists and expects demand to increase by nearly 16 percent. According to the BLS, the annual mean wages for the entire country are $26,460. Nebraskan cosmetologists will earn a little less than this and make about $24,720 per year. The reason for the low wages is mostly due to the large rural areas in the state.
