Maryland Nail Training Requirements

People who want to become licensed nail technicians in Maryland have two options to meet their goals. They can attend a school of at least 250 hours, or complete 8 months of training as a registered apprentice. Apprentices must be supervised by a licensed senior cosmetologist or salon owner, and they must work at least 30 hours per week at their apprenticeship. Both methods require a student to be at least 17 years old and to have complete 9th grade or a GED. After school or the apprentice program is completed, the student applies to the Maryland State Board of Cosmetologists to take the written and practical skills tests
