Nebraska Cosmetology Licensing Requirements

The Cornhusker State

Licenses Available: Cosmetologist, Esthetician, Electrologist, Nail Technician

Required Hours:
Cosmetology: 2100 Hours
Esthetician: 600 Hours
Electrologist: 600 Hours
Nail Technician: 300 Hours

Minimum Requirements: 17 years of age, high school diploma or G.E.D. and completion of a basic first aid class.

Reciprocity: Granted to those applicants who have completed the equivalent or greater than the hours required by NE and have passed a written and practical exam. Additional credit for work experience is possible. Contact the Board for further details.
