Minnesota Cosmetology Licensing Requirements

Licenses Available: Cosmetologist, Esthetician and Manicurist

Required Hours:
Cosmetologist: 1550 hours
Esthetician: 600 hours
Manicurist: 350 hours
Electrology is not licensed by the State but may be regulated by the local municipality.

Minimum Requirements: An applicant must have at least a 12th grade education or a G.E.D.

Reciprocity: May be granted to currently-licensed applicants who pass the Minnesota Board Exam and who have at least 1800 hours of licensed experience within the last three years.
