Licenses Available:
Cosmetology

Esthetics
Nail Technology
Barber

Required Hours:
Cosmetology: 1800 Cosmetology School Hours (3600 Apprenticeship)
Esthetics: 550 Esthetician School Hours (1100 Apprenticeship)
Nail Technician: 350 Nail School Hours
Barber: 1500 Barber School Hours

License Requirements:
Must be at least 16 years of age (or 17 years for barbers).
Must have high school education or equivalent.

Reciprocity:
Hawaii grants reciprocity to all applicants with a current license from a state with equal or greater requirements. Work experience may be considered for applicants from states where fewer training hours are required to get licensed. All reciprocity applicants are required to take the Hawaii written exam. 

Renewal:
Hawaii cosmetology licenses expire on December 31 in every odd-numbered year. If you miss the deadline, your licensure is automatically forfeited. You may reinstate for up to three years after expiration by following specific reinstatement procedures. To renew your cosmetology license in Hawaii, the following items are required at the HI cosmetology board:

- Fee
