Beauty schools in Colorado provide the knowledge that professionals need to land a rewarding job at a local salon or spa. Students can receive a number of benefits when they go to school in Colorado. Denver is one of the largest cities and is known for its proximity to the mountains and its urban living. Ski resorts are abundant around the state, and some of the most famous slopes are in Colorado. Aspen is just one of the resorts that offers great skiing in a serene mountain setting.

At one of the beauty schools in Colorado, students will gain experience cutting and styling hair. Most schools have instructors that have spent years in the industry. They have valuable insights and make it easy to learn styling and barbering. Classes will also cover esthetics, manicures and pedicures. At the end of their education, students will be eligible to get their Colorado cosmetologist license.

All professionals are licensed by the Colorado State Board of Cosmetology. This governing body is in charge of salons and barber shops and ensures that professionals meet stringent standards. A cosmetologist will need to attend 1,800 hours of class before they can receive their Colorado license. Barbers need 1,500 hours, cosmeticians need 600 hours, manicurist need 600 hours and stylists need to spend 1,200 hour at an accredited school.

After students receive their professional license, they can get a job in one of the many salons around the state. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), demand is expected to increase by around 16 percent in the next decade. Cosmetologists already earn a rewarding salary, and heightened demand should increase the wages of a professional. The current national salary average is $26,460, Colorado cosmetologists can earn differing amounts. The average pay in the state is $27,150, and that can vary if one works in a large city.
