Massachusetts Cosmetology Licensing Requirements

The Bay State

Licenses Available: Cosmetologist, Hairdresser, Aesthetician, Manicurist, Electrologist

Required Hours:
Aesthetician: 300 hours
Cosmetologist/Hairdresser: 1000 hours
Electrologist: 1100 hours (exam given twice per year)
Manicurist: 100 hours

Minimum Requirements: At least 17 years of age and a 10th grade education

Reciprocity: Applicant holds a current license with a minimum of two years work experience.
