If you are interested in getting your New Mexico cosmetology lilcense or other beauty license, below is all the information you need to know about getting licensed in the Land of Enchantment!

Licenses Available:
Barber

Cosmetologist
Electrologist
Esthetician
Manicurist/Pedicurist

Required Hours:
Barber: 1200 Barber School Hours
Cosmetologist: 1600 Beauty School Hours
Electrologist: 600 Electrolysis Training Hours
Esthetician: 600 Esthetics School Hours
Manicurist/Pedicurist: 350 Nail School Hours

Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 17 years of age.
Must have a minimum of 2 years in high school or its equivalent.

Reciprocity:
New Mexico grants reciprocity to applicants whose requirements for licensure were equal to or greater than those of NM.

Renewal:
New Mexico cosmetology licenses are renewed annually for all licenses. Continuing education hours are currently required for instructors only. To renew your license in New Mexico, the following is due to the NM cosmetology board:
- Renewal form
- Fee
- Proof of continuing education hours (Instructors only)
