Licenses Available:
Aesthetician

Barber
Cosmetologist

Electrologist
Manicurist

Required Hours:
Aesthetician: 600 Esthetics School Hours (1250 Apprentice)
Barber: 1500 Barber School Hours (2500 Apprentice)
Cosmetologist: 1500 Cosmetology School Hours (2500 Apprentice)
Electrologist: 600 Electrolysis Training Hours
Manicurist: 200 Nail School Hours (400 Apprentice)

License Requirements:
Must be at least 17 years of age.
Must have at least 10th grade education.

Reciprocity:
The Louisiana state board waives the exam and grants licenses to applicants who seek reciprocity, provided the applicant comes from a state where the requirements are the same or higher than Maine's. 

Renewal:
Maine cosmetology licenses are valid for a two-year period. The state requires 14 hours of continuing education to renew. To renew your license in Maine, the following must be submitted to the ME cosmetology board:
- Renewal form
- Fee
- Proof of continuing education hours
