Cosmetology School Scholarships

There are more ways than one to pay for your beauty training. Gone are the days of burden about coming up with enough money to cover the cost of beauty school. There are different options for students who need financial assistance, who may not receive enough from federal funding, or who need extra to help pay for fees or supplies. The good news is that some accredited beauty schools offer scholarships. And the better news? Cosmetology school scholarships don't need to be repaid. That's right; you can earn a beauty scholarship and not worry about the financial burden it could cause you in the future.

Are you eligible?
Beauty schools differ on scholarship requirements, but most have some of the same criteria. Some of the beauty scholarships are only open to students who have already completed a certain number of training hours. There are also some available to high school students who wish to go into cosmetology training. Some other requirements would be grades in high school or in your current beauty training courses as well as attendance standards. There is always a chance that you could be eligible for scholarships, so don't be afraid to apply for one.

How much are cosmetology school scholarships?
You can benefit from applying for scholarships even though some will not cover the whole amount of tuition. Use the money to help pay for tools, books or extra fees that come hand-in-hand with beauty training. Some scholarships are given out in increments while others are offered in one sum. Receive anywhere from $250 to $500 in payments up to $5,000 total for your training. The amounts vary, but mostly, the beauty scholarships are worth $500 to $1,000.

Different scholarships
There are several different scholarships and some with special emphasis. There are cosmetology, esthetics and massage therapy scholarships. If you already enrolled in school, you should check with admissions to see if they offer any scholarships. If you haven't chosen a school yet, that could become one of the factors in deciding where to attend your training.
