Arizona Nail Training Requirements
If you choose to attend nail technician school in Arizona, you will learn nail care processes, safety, and sanitation and health issues applicable to manicure and pedicure procedures. You will also learn about nail repair, gel polish techniques, nail enhancements, tips and overlays, nail art and airbrushing, and sculptured nails. Training includes hands on practice with each nail care technique. To become a licensed nail technician in Arizona, the State Board of Cosmetology requires completion of a 600 hour training program that includes standard nail care techniques and sanitation practices. You must also pass the state written and practical exams to complete your licensing requirements. Licensed nail schools are throughout Arizona, including Phoenix, the state’s largest metropolitan area.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts nail technician jobs will grow by approximately 17% by 2020. Arizona is also experiencing a population boom, which will provide more customers for licensed nail technicians. The BLS reports the annual mean wage for nail techs was $21,180. The Phoenix metropolitan area had a slightly higher annual mean wage of $25,720 before tips. Licensed nail techs may work in spas, salons, hotels, health clubs and resorts. Some nail technicians work with nail product companies or distributors as sales people or educators. Highly trained nail technicians may find work in the modeling industry or with celebrities.
