Texas Cosmetology Licensing Requirements

The Lone Star State

Licenses Available: Barber, Barber Technician, Cosmetologist, Manicurist, Facial Specialist

Required Hours:
Barber: 1500 Hours
Barber Technician: 300 Hours
Cosmetologist: 1500 Hours
Manicurist: 600 Hours
Facial Specialist: 750 Hours

Minimum Requirements: Must be at least 17 years old. Must have finished the seventh grade or its equivalent.

Reciprocity: Granted to applicants with licenses from another state whose requirements are the same as or greater than Texas.
