Connecticut Cosmetology Licensing Requirements

The Constitution State

Licenses Available: Barber, Cosmetology / Hairdresser, Electrologist

Required Hours:
Barber: 1500 Hours
Cosmetician / Hairdresser: 1500 Hours
Electrologist: 600 Hours

Minimum Requirements: All applicants must be at least 16 years of age and have evidence of an 8th grade education.

Reciprocity: Applicants with a valid license from a state whose requirements are equal to or higher than Connecticut will be credited theit total number of hours towards licensure. However, applicant may still be required to take the exam.
