Kansas: The Sunflower State

If you are interested in getting your Kansas cosmteology license or other beauty license, below is all the information you need to know about getting licensed in the Sunflower State!

Licenses Available:
Cosmetology
: 1500 hours
Esthetician: 650 hours
Nail Technician: 350 hours
Electrology: 500 hours

Required Hours:
Cosmetology: 1500 Hours
Esthetician: 650 Hours
Nail Technician: 350 Hours
Electrology: 500 Hours

Reciprocity:
Kansas grants reciprocity with 1500 hours of training, and work experience of at least one year. The license from the other state must be current. Applicants with fewer than 1500 hours must take a "practical exam." Temporary permits may be obtained allowing one to work while exams are pending.

Renewal:
Kansas cosmetology licenses must be renewed every two years. To renew your license in Kansas, the following must be provided to the KS cosmetology board:
- Renewal form
- Fee
- Successfully completed renewal exam
