Risky fashion statements are always in, as you can plainly see when you look at celebrities who dye their hair outrageous colors, and who wear some of the boldest prints you can imagine. The newest trend in daring fashions deals with your nails. Although shades of red were a staple for any fashionista a decade ago, the focus is shifting from basic colors that are a bit loud to patterns and 3-D effects.

Stick on nail art and glitter were all the rage at one time. Even the more recent trend of nail polish that has a cracked surface has been left behind in the dust. The same goes for nail polish with a heavenly aroma.

Every season seems to bring in a few new hues, since every maker of nail lacquer wants to feature unique shades of every color known to man. However, this season has nail polish manufacturers bringing some one-of-a-kind tints like shrieking green to the shelves of your local drugstore and department stores. Tints like muddied orange are selling out quickly to those who want a divalicious look for their nails.

People are now considering their nails as small canvases to show off the latest styles. You’ve seen Nicki Minaj do it, and you may have even heard of Rihanna’s extra expensive nail polish with real gold, but are you ready for the latest? If you are, then you might want to try some nail color with a 3-D effect. Don’t forget about the crazy patterns available on the market today. Yes, it’s true, a snakeskin print isn’t just for your shoes or purse; it can be used as an accessory you can take anywhere and everywhere—your nails! A leopard might not be able to change his or her spots, but you can surely change your nails with a fierce cheetah print finish.

What’s nice about the fad of your nails being a blank slate is that you can always use nail polish remover to remove anything that you don’t like or that doesn’t suit you well. The rule might be the more outrageous the better, but you can experiment with your comfort level without the consequence of a permanent blunder.

While you might not want to invest in Chanel’s blackened orange nail polish, there are plenty of options from brands like Esse and Sally Hansen that won’t cost you a fortune. In fact, you can spend under $30, and get still get a bottle of color that will get your fingertips noticed. If you want to learn more or maybe attend a nail school go here!

As a present or future cosmetology or esthetics professional, chances are you have an arsenal of unique talents and a strong creative mind. So in the Internet Age, how can you share what you have to offer and gain a wider fan base? The answer could lie in blogging!

Recently, I came across an entertaining blog called The Daily Nail that inspired me to think about what makes a blog fun to read. Though the author of The Daily Nail does not claim to be a professional nail artist or technician who has graduated nail technician school (just a nail polish addict), she has committed herself to creating 365 new nail designs in 365 days. So even if ninja nails or mustache nails aren’t your thing, you may be able to find a novel nail polish idea within these webpages.

Now do you feel inspired to start up a blog of your own? First, think about what you’re good at – executing great hairstyles, trying out new makeup looks, or just doing wacky beauty things. Creating your own blog could be the perfect way to put yourself out there, and even gain devoted clients and readers.

Need some tips for your own blog? Here are a few ideas to get started:

1. Get creative. If you’re a current cosmetology student, try to think of an offbeat, unusual or humorous way to show off your talents.

2. Make it visual. Incorporating photographs, videos or pictures can catch the eye and keep people reading.

3. Be yourself. Keep your writing fun and personal – as if you were just hanging out and chatting with your friends.

4. Showcase your talents. Show your readers what you’re great at, and present it in a way that makes them want to pay cash-money for your services!

5. Free advertising! There are tons of websites all over the Internet that can host your blog for free (two of my favorites are Tumblr and Blogger). Some sites that display advertisements may even pay you for blogging.

Now, it’s time to take the web by storm! We’d love to hear about your blogging experiences, so tell us what you’ve tried, or share your blog with the group.

From sleek and professional to fun to funky, the possibilities with nail art are endless. And, it seems like these days America’s demand for nail technologists is dang near endless, too!

In fact, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistic’s Occupational Outlook Handbook, employment of manicurists and pedicurists will grow by 28 percent thanks to the continued growth in the number of nail salons and full-service day spas.

And this demand has a lot of business-savvy personal appearance workers returning to beauty school for nail technology programs. It seems like a logical career step – these programs are relatively short-term, but adding nail care to your repertoire can have long-lasting effects on your career prospects.

Whether you’re already in the beauty industry, or you’re an artistic individual looking for a fun, creative outlet with potential for career success, think about enrolling in a nail technology program. It makes sense – beauty is one of today’s fastest growing fields, but manicures and pedicures are topping the list of consumer demand. Give the people what they want and benefit from working in a growing field!
