Welcome to Dorsey School of Beauty

Dorsey School of Beauty is here to help you take your dreams of working in the beauty industry and turn them into reality. Our hands-on training in a professional clinic can help you break into the cosmetology field. You can gain real experience with clinic clientele in our professional facilities that feature professional equipment. We offer a Cosmetology Program.

Through Dorsey School of Beauty's Cosmetology program, you can be on the cutting edge of hair styles, skin care, makeup artistry and overall beauty techniques. Responsibilities may include cutting, trimming and shaping hair based on customers' instructions; using clippers, scissors, trimmers and razors to manage facial features; recommending beauty treatments and suggesting hair styles; scheduling client appointments; bleaching, dyeing or tinting hair using an applicator or brush; shampooing, rinsing, conditioning and drying hair; demonstrating and selling hair care products and cosmetics; developing new styles and techniques; and updating and maintaining customer information records.

Massage Therapy

The Massage Therapy diploma program is designed to provide a solid foundation in anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology which form the basis for training in specific massage techniques. Hands-on techniques include Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Therapy, Sports Massage, and Supervised Clinical Practice. The diploma program is designed to prepare the student for entry level positions in the massage therapy industry. Once licensed, our graduates may pursue a variety of jobs including private practice, athletic team massage therapist, massage therapist in a hospital, on-site massage therapist, massage therapist in a Spa or salon, assistant to physical therapists or chiropractors, and massage therapist on cruise ships. Successful completion of this program meets the approved curriculum requirement needed to apply for licensure in Michigan. Dorsey Schools has determined that its Massage Therapy program curriculum is sufficient to fulfill educational requirements for licensure in the State of Michigan only. No educational determinations have been made for any other state, district or US territory in regards to licensure requirements. The curriculum is also geared to prepare students to challenge the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx). Note: Students will have the opportunity to practice various massage modalities learned throughout the program on members of the public in a simulated work environment. During Supervised Clinic Practice and as part of their training, students will provide massage services to customers who may be charged for the services rendered by students.
