Benefits Of a Carsten Education

There are many beauty schools on the current market. However, not all may be a great fit for your specific education needs. Before making a decision, you should carefully weigh your options and consider where your time and money investment will reap the greatest rewards for you personally and professionally. Below you will see the key points of difference that set Carsten Institute apart from the rest.

  • The CARSTEN INSTITUTE OF COSMETOLOGY NEW YORK CITY is a globally recognized training ground for aspiring beauty professionals. The Institute is nationally accredited and approved to assist with student visas for non-US residents.
  • Carsten Institute is endorsed by L’Oréal Professionnel, and is the only school in NYC that trains students and provides them with L’Oréal Professionnel products to prepare them for the real world post-graduation.
  • We train our students using the French Haircutting technique, invented by the French hairdressing eminence, Bruno Pittini. This technique takes clients’ features into account when developing the final hair look, color, and cut. In this way, the student is allowed the opportunity to train their eye, develop their consultation and listening skills, and build rapport and trust with their client leading ultimately to beautiful, positive, and flattering results! This is also the technique employed by top NYC celebrity hairdressers such as Frédéric Fekkai, Yves Durif, Mark Garrison, and Alain Pinon.
  • Carsten Institute of Cosmetology participates in Federal Financial Aid Programs (Based on eligibility.) and boasts of an in-house Financial Aid Advisor.
  • Carsten Institute hosts a number of themed hairdressing and makeup competitions throughout the year to inspire our students’ creativity and allow a platform to showcase learned techniques.
  • We participate during select Fashion Week shows by recruiting students to work on models to build experience and earn credit.
  • As part of the cosmetology curriculum, we have implemented an intensive Salon Business course, which equips students with the full understanding of how to run and grow their own business in today’s market. The final project (required for graduation*) has been used many times by alumni who have gone on to open their own salons!
  • Carsten Institute of Cosmetology is a family-owned institute. The classes are designed to be kept to a small number, which enables high interaction between students and instructors. We maintain strong connections with our alumni for this reason.

Carsten Institute of Cosmetology is an elite training ground for tomorrow’s beauty professionals. The following are disclaimers of what the program does not provide.

  • The completion of the cosmetology program at Carsten Institute of Cosmetology does not equal obtaining the license. To obtain a cosmetology license, you must complete a 1000-hour program at an accredited cosmetology school. Once completed, you must apply for and take a two-part StateBoard exam (a practical and written exam) Upon passing, you are given a license.
  • The Carsten Institute of Cosmetology is not responsible for providing employment upon graduation. However, we are constantly in contact with top NYC salons who request the best students and alumni to work for them. Employability completely depends on the individual and their capacites.
  • Financial Aid is a program that must be applied for, and is reserved only for people who are eligible.
