Carolina College of Hair Design

ABOUT THE SCHOOL

At Carolina College of Hair Design, our school has a learning environment that integrates both theory classrooms and a clinic into the curriculum to aid students in their mastering of hair and skin care skills. By utilizing these different learning environments, we provide our students with the opportunity to explore the beauty culture and prepare them to become professionals in the cosmetology industry.

All of our classes have a 20-person maximum class size, which provides students with the opportunity for personal, one-on-one and hands-on instruction. To accommodate different students' learning styles, our theory classrooms consist of not only lectures, but also a variety of visual aids such as recorded presentations and hands-on demonstrations. After completing the required theory hours, students participate in clinic hours that allow them to use the techniques they have learned in the classroom during practical experience on clientele. Services are performed under supervision of one of our licensed instructors.

Carolina College of Hair Design provides students with the knowledge base they need to prepare for the state board exam. In as little as 50 weeks, you can be on your way to your new career as a licensed cosmetologist!

OUR COSMETOLOGY PROGRAM

The Carolina College of Hair Design requires its students to complete a 1,500-hour program prior to taking their state board exam. To provide students with more than the usual coursework, we bring in guest artists, product representatives, and salon owners and managers to give lectures. Our program is broken down into three course areas as follows:

• 320 hours of general coursework: Sterilization, Sanitation, Bacteriology, Anatomy and Physiology, Shop Ethics and Professionalism, Personality and Salesmanship, and State Law
• 575 hours of chemical coursework: Permanent Waves, Hair Relaxer, Hair Coloring, Bleaching and Toning, Sculpted Nails, and Hair Structure and Chemistry
• 605 hours of physical coursework: Shampooing and Rinses, Hair Care and Scalp Care, Hair Shaping, Hairdressing and Styling, Facials, Arching Brows, Lash and Brow Tinting, and Manicures and Pedicures

At Carolina College of Hair Design, we choose to use the Milady curriculum, which includes chapter lessons written by experts in the cosmetology industry and step-by-step demonstrations for left-handed individuals. We also provide students encouragement and development of professional values.
