Barbering Training Guides


Barbers, or hairstylists who cater exclusively to men, cut and trim hair. They also use chemicals and special equipment to curl, color or straighten hair. Other services performed are shaving, shaping and trimming beards and mustaches; giving facial or scalp massages; identifying hair or scalp problems; and recommending and selling products.


Barbers who own their own shops have responsibilities, including:
    • Assigning appointments and maintaining employee schedules  
    • Training new employees
    • Ordering supplies
    • Making sure their shops meet health inspection and licensing requirements
    • Keeping records and paying bills
